Abstract

A multigene phylogeny of the group is presented based on analyses of ITS, 28S, and nucleotide data. Four major subclades and three additional independent lineages were identified in the group. Two species with superficial similarities with the group, viz, and , however, were not nested within the group. sect. is proposed to accommodate the group in a more formal classification system. As such, sect. now includes 12 documented species and seven new species described in this work. The seven new species include sp. nov., sp. nov. sp. nov., three species associated with from tropical China; also , a species associated with fagaceous trees from tropical China; and sp. nov., sp. nov., and sp. nov., three species associated with fagaceous trees from subtropical China. In addition, new geographical data for and are reported. The East Asian species and the neotropical species were confirmed as members of sect. . A key to the 19 species in sect. is also provided.
