This study examines how social support boosts positive coping styles in disadvantaged breadwinner mothers in a Chinese province. We analyzed data from 380 program beneficiaries using hypothesis testing and stepwise regression. Results indicate that mothers' perceptions and evaluations of social support enhance their coping abilities and foster social trust, leading to improved coping styles. Additionally, these aspects of support correlate with a higher level of general social trust, which further strengthens individuals' positive coping strategies. Importantly, while the actual utilization of support services does not directly influence coping behaviors before or after assistance, it does contribute to a heightened sense of social trust. These findings offer valuable theoretical insights and practical guidance for implementing social support programs aimed at vulnerable groups. Programs designed for this demographic should focus on increasing awareness and accessibility of social support services, enhancing general social trust among recipients, and promoting positive, problem-focused attitudes and coping styles.
