Abstract

The Neotropical species of the hoverfly genus Curran, 1925 are revised. A total number of 14 Neotropical species are recognized, two of which were previously described, namely (Curran, 1940) and (Curran, 1936). The other 12 species are here described for the first time: Reemer, , Reemer, , Reemer, , Reemer, , Reemer & Mengual, , Reemer, , Reemer, , Reemer, , Reemer, , Reemer & Mengual, , Reemer & Mengual, , and Reemer, An identification key is provided including all the recognised species. The distribution of the genus in the Neotropical region is shown to be disjunct, with one group of species in the northwest of the South American landmass and another group in southeastern Brazil.
