Abstract

Oasis farmland and cities are vital for production and life in arid areas. However, heavy metal contamination in these cities has intensified with economic development, harming residents' health, the environment, and agriculture. The current state of contamination in oasis cities remains unclear due to a lack of research data. This study investigates the features of heavy metal contamination and its affecting elements in various oasis cities, specifically focusing on Urumqi, Korla, Aksu, and Hotan City in northwest China, which exhibit diverse economic scales and industrial structures. The Nemero index, geoaccumulation index, ecological risk index, health risk index, principal component analysis, positive matrix factorization, etc., were used to analyze the distribution characteristics, risk levels, and sources of six heavy metals (Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Cd, and Pb) in the surface soil. The results show that: (1) The degree of contamination, ranging from high risk to low, is as follows: Urumqi > Korla > Aksu > Hotan. The urban economic scale most significantly influences the degree of heavy metal contamination in soil and is closely related to the local industrial structure. Industry activities lead to more severe contamination. (2) The degree of Cd contamination is relatively high in the four cities, mainly affected by human activities such as industrial production and transportation. The overall heavy metal contamination risk in Urumqi is higher than in other oasis cities, and there is some carcinogenic risk for children. (3) The sources of heavy metal pollutants in the surface soil of different oasis vary. The main source of heavy metals in Urumqi and Aksu is the industrial source, accounting for 41.28% and 56.15%, respectively. In Korla and Hotan, natural environmental sources dominate, accounting for 66.66% and 73.49% respectively. This study provides a foundation for analyzing heavy metal sources and pollution prevention and control in major oases of an arid region.

摘要

绿洲农田和城市对干旱地区的生产和生活至关重要。然而,随着经济发展,这些城市的重金属污染日益加剧,对居民健康、环境和农业造成危害。由于缺乏研究数据,绿洲城市的污染现状仍不明确。本研究调查了不同绿洲城市重金属污染的特征及其影响因素,特别关注中国西北部的乌鲁木齐、库尔勒、阿克苏和和田市,这些城市呈现出不同的经济规模和产业结构。采用内梅罗指数、地累积指数、生态风险指数、健康风险指数、主成分分析、正定矩阵因子分解等方法,分析了表层土壤中6种重金属(镍、铜、锌、砷、镉和铅)的分布特征、风险水平和来源。结果表明:(1)污染程度从高风险到低风险依次为:乌鲁木齐>库尔勒>阿克苏>和田。城市经济规模对土壤重金属污染程度影响最为显著,且与当地产业结构密切相关。工业活动导致的污染更为严重。(2)四个城市中镉污染程度相对较高,主要受工业生产和交通运输等人类活动影响。乌鲁木齐的整体重金属污染风险高于其他绿洲城市,儿童存在一定致癌风险。(3)不同绿洲表层土壤中重金属污染物来源各异。乌鲁木齐和阿克苏重金属的主要来源是工业源,分别占41.28%和56.15%。库尔勒和和田以自然环境源为主,分别占66.66%和73.49%。本研究为分析干旱地区主要绿洲的重金属来源及污染防治提供了依据。
