The Haag-Streit Lotmar Visometer for determining macular potential prior to cataract surgery.

The Haag-Streit Lotmar Visometer was evaluated to determine its accuracy in predicting macular potential prior to cataract removal in 101 cases. Overall, the instrument was reasonably reliable in 73% of cases. The results were analyzed from several standpoints to determine what data obtained during routine preoperative examination might help predict the reliability of the instrument in a given case.
