Abstract

BACKGROUND

Treatments for osteoarthritis, including steroids and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, are not very satisfactory. Therefore, we decided to compare the therapeutic results of intra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid and methylprednisolone.

METHODS

In this single-blind clinical trial, 132 patients with osteoarthritis of the knee were randomly assigned to two treatment groups; hyaluronic acid and methylprednisolone. Treatment results were measured based on the standard McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC) questionnaire.

RESULTS

Although the desired level of satisfaction was higher in the short-term in the methylprednisolone group and in the long-term in the hyaluronic acid group, however, these differences were not significant.

CONCLUSION

The recovery of patients is better with methylprednisolone injection in the short term and hyaluronic acid in the long term. However, since methylprednisolone has complications, it is recommended to consider hyaluronic acid as a suitable drug in the treatment process.

背景

骨关节炎的治疗方法,包括类固醇和非甾体抗炎药,效果都不太理想。因此,我们决定比较关节内注射透明质酸和甲基强的松龙的治疗效果。

方法

在这项单盲临床试验中,132例膝骨关节炎患者被随机分为两个治疗组,即透明质酸组和甲基强的松龙组。治疗结果根据标准的麦克马斯特大学关节炎指数(WOMAC)问卷进行评估。

结果

虽然甲基强的松龙组在短期内和透明质酸组在长期内的满意度达到了预期水平,但这些差异并不显著。

结论

短期注射甲基强的松龙和长期注射透明质酸对患者的恢复效果较好。然而,由于甲基强的松龙有并发症,建议在治疗过程中考虑将透明质酸作为一种合适的药物。
