Medial meniscus posterior root tears (MMPRTs) are a risk factor for knee osteoarthritis because of the destruction of the meniscal hoop structure. Medial open wedge high tibial osteotomy can be combined with MMPRT pullout repair to reduce pressure on the medial compartment. However, when these techniques are performed simultaneously, the locking screws of the plate interfere with the tibial bone tunnel, resulting in suture damage or nonanatomic MMPRT repair. In this Technical Note, we describe a surgical technique for transtibial medial meniscus posterior root pullout repair fixed with a bioabsorbable screw before osteotomy for knee osteoarthritis with MMPRT without interference with the screws of medial open wedge high tibial osteotomy.
