The effect of protein on acid-base balance (ABB) was studied in young and old male white rats. The shifts developing in the ABB system were found to be related to the age of animals and to protein metabolism characteristics. Administration of protein resulted in acidosis that was more manifest and prolonged in old animals. A close relationship was observed between acidotic changes in the ABB system and blood serum levels of amino acids.
研究了蛋白质对年轻和老年雄性白鼠酸碱平衡（ABB）的影响。发现ABB系统中出现的变化与动物年龄和蛋白质代谢特征有关。给予蛋白质会导致酸中毒，老年动物的酸中毒表现更明显且持续时间更长。观察到ABB系统的酸中毒变化与血清氨基酸水平之间存在密切关系。
