Abstract

Streptococcus bovis is an opportunistic bacterium consistently associated with colorectal cancer (CRC). This article reviews previous experimental evidence that has successfully demonstrated the role of S. bovis species in the context of CRC. The emerging evidence from experimental studies shows that the development of CRC involves synergistic mechanisms. This includes microbial dysbiosis or bacterial factors, evasion of the host immune system leading to chronic inflammatory responses, and alterations in cellular signalling pathways, which together promote tumour development and progression. The review may contribute to a better understanding of the role of S. bovis in CRC and its potential as a microbial biomarker and cancer therapeutic target.

牛链球菌是一种与结直肠癌(CRC)始终相关的机会致病菌。本文回顾了先前的实验证据,这些证据已成功证明了牛链球菌属在结直肠癌背景下的作用。实验研究中不断出现的证据表明,结直肠癌的发生涉及协同机制。这包括微生物群落失调或细菌因素、逃避宿主免疫系统导致慢性炎症反应以及细胞信号通路的改变,这些共同促进肿瘤的发生和发展。该综述可能有助于更好地理解牛链球菌在结直肠癌中的作用及其作为微生物生物标志物和癌症治疗靶点的潜力。
