Abstract

The author carried out a series of studies to discover some aspects of the mechanism of antiinflammatory action of bacterial proteolytic enzymic preparation E-30. It was established that in adrenalectomized rats the preparation inhibited to the same extent the development of carageninic edema of paws like that of the intact animals, which showed that its action was not connected with activation of hypothalamic-hypophysial-adrenal system. However, it inhibited t the activity of hyaluronidinase and diminished the permeability of the capillary walls and this could explain the strong antiexudative action, which the enzymic preparation possesses. In experiments on isolated intestines of rats and guinea pigs and on blood pressure of rats the author found that E-30 had moderate antihistaminic and antiserotonic action, which appeared to another important element in the complex mechanism, by which the preparation realized its antiinflammatory action.
