Abstract

This investigation was suggested by gross similarities between the pathophysiological features of Substance P (SP) administration and snake venom poisoning in mammals. Using standard procedures for the extraction, purification and bioassay of SP, levels of SP were measured both and before and after treatment of the preparations with venom. There was a consistent depletion of SP in the tissues studied following snake envenomation. The significance of this finding is discussed in the context of the mechanisms of action of snake venom.

本研究是受P物质(SP)给药与哺乳动物蛇毒中毒的病理生理特征之间的总体相似性所启发。采用SP提取、纯化及生物测定的标准程序,在毒液处理制剂前后分别测定SP水平。蛇毒中毒后,所研究的组织中SP持续减少。在蛇毒作用机制的背景下讨论了这一发现的意义。
