Certain foetal calf sera (FCS), upon initial injection, elicit delayed dermal reactions in some but not all guinea-pigs. The FCS that evoke significant dermal responses also initiate blastogenesis of lymphocytes taken from animals exhibiting the dermal reactions. A correlation exists between the severity of the reactions and the degree of blastogenesis observed. An explanation for these observations has been suggested, i.e. that some guinea-pigs possess spontaneously developed delayed hypersensitivity for antigen(s) contained in FCS.
某些胎牛血清（FCS）在初次注射时，会在部分而非所有豚鼠中引发延迟性皮肤反应。引发显著皮肤反应的FCS也会引发表现出皮肤反应的动物淋巴细胞的母细胞生成。反应的严重程度与所观察到的母细胞生成程度之间存在相关性。针对这些观察结果已提出一种解释，即一些豚鼠对FCS中所含抗原具有自发形成的迟发型超敏反应。
