Abstract

The importance of the HL-A system for blood transfusions (febrile reactions, substitution of leukocytes and platelets, prevention of anti-HL-A immunisation) is described. Furthermore, the problem of finding an HL-A identical donor for a given recipient which arises from the polymorphism of the HL-A system is discussed.
