The influence of D-penicillamine (DPA) on a defined chronic proliferative inflammation in a model granuloma was tested in a long-term experiment. A change in collagen metabolism was detected during the three weeks of DPA administration, whereas the proliferation of the fibroblast population remained unaffected.
