When incubated at room temperature (23 degrees C) for 3 to 14 days, feces from cats infected 4 to 8 days with Toxoplasma gondii, and free of Toxocara cati eggs, produced toxoplasmosis in mice. Results indicate that the nematode egg is not necessary for transmission of the parasite.
