Adult mortality rates among progeny of Leghorn X Red reciprocal crosses were observed concurrently at three North Central Region experiment stations. Female mortality rates were significantly (P less than or equal to .05) higher at all locations among progeny of the Leghorn male parent. Male mortality rates (observed at two locations) between crosses were not different and thus suggested a sex chromosome involvement with mortality rates in these crosses.
