Abstract

Informative RNA of interferon and its production repressor were isolated from the cells of the chick embryo fibroblasts (CEF). These 2 RNAs were characterized comparatively. It was found that isolation of the poly A-containing RNAs of interferonand its repressor permits to increase significantly the specific activity of both preparations. Comparative analysis of the sedimentation profiles suggested that the biological activity zones of both preparations in the sucrose density gradient had close sedimentation constants. Accumulation of the repressor RNA in the cells of the CEF was somewhat earlier than that of the interferon RNA. The translation time of the interferon and repressor RNAs amounted to 25-30 and 30-35 minutes respectively.
