The brains of five neurologically healthy humans were analyzed for their content of various monoamines and metabolites using two different dissection methods. The left hemisphere was frozen immediately and subsequently dissected in the frozen state. The right hemisphere was dissected fresh in the autopsy room whereupon the brain parts were put in a freezer. Few significant differences were noted with respect to the monoamine content, indicating that the methods could be considered to be equivalent for the purpose of monoamine analysis.
