Agglutinins with a specificity for glucose-treated M erythrocytes were found in the serum of a healthy blood donor (Mar). The affinity of these agglutinins to glucose allowed the purification by affinity chromatography on Sephadex G-25. More than 400-fold purification was achieved in a one-step procedure. Protein bound to the column and eluted with glucose solution showed a good recovery of agglutinating activity. The major components of the purified preparation were IgG and IgM.
