Aids to hearing of a different kind.

Apart from personal hearing aids, there are a wide range of devices available for the hearing impaired. Most are not technically sophisticated but can make a considerable impact on their users. The major problem, however, is to ensure that they are used to the best advantage by as many people as possible. This paper describes the varieties of devices available and the settings in which they can be used.
