Claforan (CTX) was administered for 5 days at a daily dose of 4 g in two divided doses by intravenous injection to 18 in-patients, all of whom were over 70 years old and had chronic complicated urinary tract infections. The overall clinical efficacy of CTX was excellent in 4 cases, moderate in 8 cases and poor in 6 cases, the overall effectiveness rate being 66.7%. Twenty seven out of 34 organisms isolated from chronic complicated urinary tract infections before administration of CTX were eradicated after treatment. Both clinical findings and laboratory findings revealed no side effects. It is suggested that CTX is useful and a safe drug for elderly patients.
对18例住院患者静脉注射头孢曲松（CTX），每日剂量4g，分两次给药，疗程5天。所有患者均为70岁以上，患有慢性复杂性尿路感染。CTX的总体临床疗效为优4例，中8例，差6例，总有效率为66.7%。CTX治疗前从慢性复杂性尿路感染中分离出的34种微生物中，27种在治疗后被根除。临床和实验室检查均未发现副作用。提示CTX对老年患者是一种有用且安全的药物。
