Abstract
In a double-blind, cross-over, placebo-controlled study the efficacy of a new antihypertensive agent, guanfacine, was compared that of with methyldopa. Guanfacine was more effective in controlling blood pressure than methyldopa, but it induced a slightly higher incidence of side-effects.
