Abstract
The effect of the following antibiotics, in serum concentration equivalent to that of the usual therapeutic level, on the in vitro phagocytosis of killed Candida albicans by normal human neutrophils was studied: gentamicin, tobramycin, netilmicin, amikacin, aztreonam, cephradine, cefamandole, ticarcillin, spectinomycin, amoxycillin, clavulanic acid and Augmentin. Each antibiotic was tested 10 times. Results showed slight inhibition of phagocytosis by all antibiotics except amoxycillin.
