Abstract
Reaction of methyl vinyl ketone with bovine insulin affords, amongst others, a crystalline A1-(3-oxobutyl)insulin. This retains full biological activity in the mouse convulsion assay. The presence of zinc ions changes the course of the above reaction, and illustrates the use of zinc as a "blocking function".

甲基乙烯基酮与牛胰岛素反应，除其他产物外，还生成一种结晶状的A1-(3-氧代丁基)胰岛素。在小鼠惊厥试验中，该产物保留了全部生物活性。锌离子的存在改变了上述反应的进程，并说明了锌作为一种“阻断功能”的用途。
