An evaluation of the urinary schistosomiasis distribution in Burkina Faso (Upper-Volta) was attempted in 86 villages of three departments: Center, North-Center, West-Center, considerated as thickly populated areas. Urine samples from 3,508, 5 to 14 year old children were collected, to detect haematuria with strip reagent and to determine the egg count excreted. Total prevalence was 31.4% and mean egg output was 1,518/10 ml of urine. Data obtained with these common methods may be useful in public health and sufficient for a pretreatment control.
