Implementation of primary nursing in one hospital significantly altered the traditional relationships among nursing students, faculty, and the primary nurses. A committee made up of faculty, staff, and administration was established to consider the effects of the change and make the transition to primary nursing smooth. Out of the collaboration came a policy that assured more meaningful student learning experiences and quality patient care. The authors present some significant parts of that policy in this article.
