A patient, who developed carcinoma of the rectum nine years following therapeutic radiation for pelvic malignancy is presented. The relationship of radiation to carcinoma of the colon is reviewed. This relationship makes rigorous follow-up of patients with radiation induced chronic proctocolitis essential.
