Up to now the results obtained with the "Vienna Cochlear Implant" have been encouraging. All our patients achieved acoustic orientation, the majority improved in lipreading ability and many patients achieved a good standard of open speech understanding. Furthermore, our results show that implants can be worn over a long time without causing any side effects.
