Daily administration of mouse interferon increased the survival time of BALB/c mice injected intraperitoneally with 2 transplantable mouse myelomas (IgM and IgA). Inhibition of tumour growth was associated with lower blood levels of specific myeloma immunoglobulins. An inhibitory effect of interferon was not observed when the tumours were implanted subcutaneously, emphasizing the importance of the site of tumour growth in evaluating the anti-tumour effects of interferon.
