Scabies and giardiasis. Increased serum IgE due to scabies infestation in 2 children with scabies and giardiasis.

Serum IgE concentrations and circulating eosinophils were increased in 2 children with scabies and Giardia lamblia infection. Both parameters decreased after scabies elimination, whereas none of them were influenced by the Giardia lamblia infection. This confirms previous observations that scabies stimulates the immune system, whereas Giardia lamblia does not.
