In default of a causal treatment, longterm drug therapy is essential in numerous neurological diseases. For forensic reasons alone, therefore, side effects and interactions typical for the drugs must be taken into consideration. An attempt has been made to review the most important disturbances of longterm treatment with the drugs which are often used in neurology. At the same time the versatile chemotherapeutic substances also used in other special disciplines and which can sometimes produce serious neurological symptoms are also discussed.
