[DNA and protein in the postnatal growth of mouse cardiomyocytes].

DNA and protein were measured in the cell on bicolour smears stained with the Feulgen reagent and with Naphtol yellow S. The mean protein quantity and histograms are the same for mononuclear and binuclear myocytes with the same ploidy. The growth rate of these cells is also the same. A discrepancy is revealed between the protein content and the gene dosage in growing myocytes: doubling of ploidy was not followed by a corresponding increase in the amount of protein.
