The electrophoretic separation of proteins from the eye lens core (nucleus) has been a useful procedure in population and taxonomic studies. The possibility exists that this method may be applied to obtaining behavioral, environmental, and perhaps other types of information. Because of the increasing usefulness of this approach with nuclear lens proteins, efforts to optimize the methodology are continually being made. A complete system, incorporating new developments and applied to four fish species, is described in this report.
