The oblique muscles pose diagnostic as well as therapeutic challenges which place demands on the surgeon who attempts to treat the more complicated cyclovertical strabismus. A thorough knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of these muscles is necessary. This should be combined with a thorough knowledge of the diagnostic techniques, the appropriate surgical therapeutic measures, and the results which can reasonably be expected.
