[Surgical procedure for salmonellosis of the urogenital tract (author's transl)].

A 45-year-old man with multiple abscesses caused by Salmonella typhi murium in the left kidney is presented. The patient had bilateral polycystic renal degeneration and terminal renal insufficiency. The illness manifested itself clinically as a case of septicaemia which did not respond to antibiotic treatment, and pain in the left flank. There was concomitant haematuria. The patient was treated with dicumarol for thrombosis of the Chimino shunt. The symptoms receded following nephrectomy. The patient is to be considered cured in the absence of positive findings in the urine, blood, sputum, gastric juices or faeces.
