Estrogen-dependent and estrogen-independent mammary tumours were produced in experimental animals. Four isozymes of glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase were identified in each tumour tupe. It was found that ovariectomy and estradiol administration change selectively the activity of glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase I in estrogen-dependent tumours, while no effect on the enzyme or any of its isozymes was found in estrogen- in dependent tumours. Other hormones (prolactin, insulin) induce the activity of glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase III rather than that of glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase I in normal mammary tissue. The idea of existence of a fine regulation of the enzyme activity through selective activation or repression of individual isozymes is confirmed.
在实验动物中产生了雌激素依赖性和非雌激素依赖性乳腺肿瘤。在每种肿瘤类型中鉴定出了葡萄糖6-磷酸脱氢酶的四种同工酶。结果发现,卵巢切除术和雌二醇给药可选择性地改变雌激素依赖性肿瘤中葡萄糖6-磷酸脱氢酶I的活性,而在非雌激素依赖性肿瘤中未发现对该酶或其任何同工酶有影响。其他激素(催乳素、胰岛素)在正常乳腺组织中诱导葡萄糖6-磷酸脱氢酶III而非葡萄糖6-磷酸脱氢酶I的活性。通过对单个同工酶的选择性激活或抑制来精细调节酶活性这一观点得到了证实。
