Experiments on male rats were made to study and compare the effect of testosterone, 5 alpha-dihydrotestosterone and 5 alpha-androstane-3 beta, 17 beta-diol on thyroid function and proliferation of thyroid parenchyma, as well as on protein synthesis by it. Administration of testosterone and androstanediol slightly increased intrathyroid hormonogenesis, while dihydrotestosterone reduced it. At the same time testosterone and, to a greater extent, its 5 alpha-reduced metabolites decreased the weight of the thyroid gland. This decrease and suppression of thyroid parenchyma proliferation under the effect of the compounds in question is accounted for by the inhibitory effect produced by all the test androgens on protein synthesis by thyrocytes.
对雄性大鼠进行实验,以研究和比较睾酮、5α-双氢睾酮和5α-雄烷-3β,17β-二醇对甲状腺功能、甲状腺实质增殖以及甲状腺蛋白质合成的影响。给予睾酮和雄烷二醇会使甲状腺内激素生成略有增加,而双氢睾酮则使其减少。同时,睾酮及其5α-还原代谢产物在更大程度上会使甲状腺重量减轻。所研究的这些化合物作用下甲状腺实质增殖的减少和抑制,是由于所有受试雄激素对甲状腺细胞蛋白质合成产生的抑制作用所致。
