Our investigations on premature rupture of the fetal membranes (PROM) show that prematurity represents a higher risk for the fetus than infection does. Therefore we tend to be expectant in case of PROM combined with prematurity. On the other hand latency between rupture of the membranes and onset of labor should not exceed 24 hours for a mature fetus (gestational age greater than 37 weeks, estimated weight greater than 2500 g, L/S-ratio greater than 2). Antibiotics are applied only in case of manifest infection and at the onset of labor following a latency longer than 24 hours.
我们对胎膜早破（PROM）的研究表明，早产对胎儿来说比感染风险更高。因此，对于胎膜早破合并早产的情况，我们倾向于采取期待疗法。另一方面，对于成熟胎儿（孕周大于37周，估计体重超过2500克，卵磷脂/鞘磷脂比值大于2），胎膜破裂至临产的间隔时间不应超过24小时。仅在出现明显感染以及潜伏期超过24小时后临产时才使用抗生素。
