The organization of spatial behaviour is anchored in the architecture of the body as shaped by gravity and antigravity forces in the course of evolution. The general lay-out of the nervous system mirrors the architecture of the body. Behaviour is controlled movement. The nervous system is the organ of control. The cerebral control loops under consideration are external loops in which the body and the environment are taking part. The outside world is represented in the nervous system as a vector map (biological space). The nervous system controls control loops. Therefore, it is a hierarchical control system. Spatial perception can be understood as a perceptual transformation of biological space.
