Phage-typing of S. typhi is considered a valid tool for epidemiological studies on typhoid fever, and has therefore been used for many years at the Reference Center for Phatogenic Enteric Bacteria of Northern Italy. Results obtained from Jan 1 1980 through April 30 1981 are reported and a temporal (with what was obtained at the Center in the past) and geographical (with the results obtained by the Reference Centers for Central and Southern Italy) comparison are performed with the results obtained by this Center in the past and by other Centers both in this Country and abroad.
