A 38-year-old man was hospitalized with severe neck pain. Aortic arch angiography failed to reveal an abnormality. Doppler flow study showed a prolonged systolic flow phase with a double peak in the left common carotid. The impression of dissecting aortic aneurysm involving the left carotid was confirmed at autopsy.
