A method for the measurement of light transmission using a photometer provided with a measuring and a reference photocell along with a bifurcated fiber optic light guide.

A method for the measurement of light transmission is described. It makes use of an illuminator, a photometer to which a measuring and a reference photocell are connected, a bifurcated light guide and four special holders, two for the photocells and two for the branches of the light guide. The reference photocell gives the values of the first intensity while the measuring photocell, covered by the sample to be examined, gives the values of the second intensity. By just switching from one photocell to the other, without moving the sample it is possible to verify the values of both the first and the second intensity and consequently insure more precise measurements.
