The development of a fluorometric method for the assay of subtilisins.

An ultra-sensitive fluorometric method has been developed for quantitating subtilisins in aqueous solution. Using detergent solutions as blanks, the analytical sensitivity was estimated to be 0.002 microgram of 100% active enzyme per milliliter. The required sampling time for quantitating subtilisins in air at their TLV was estimated to be approximately two minutes.
