Histological observations were made on the adrenal glands and kidneys in ten cases of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). The amount of fetal cortex was excessive in the adrenal glands and many glomeruli of fetal form were observed in the kidneys. These findings suggest that the adrenal glands and the kidneys in SIDS cases are more or less immature in development. The immature development in these organs, especially in the adrenal glands, was considered to play a role in the cardiac or respiratory mechanisms in SIDS.
对10例婴儿猝死综合征（SIDS）病例的肾上腺和肾脏进行了组织学观察。肾上腺中胎儿皮质的量过多，并且在肾脏中观察到许多胎儿形态的肾小球。这些发现表明，SIDS病例中的肾上腺和肾脏在发育上或多或少不成熟。这些器官，尤其是肾上腺的发育不成熟，被认为在SIDS的心脏或呼吸机制中起作用。
