Two cases are presented documenting the occurrence of visual hallucinations in patients with dense, bilateral cataracts. The striking curative effect of cataract extraction is cited. A review of the preceptual release theory of the formation of such hallucinations is offered. Finally, the difference between preoperative hallucinations occurring as an isolated phenomenon, is contrasted with postoperative hallucinations which form part of a generalized behavior disturbance.
