A 41 year old woman was treated for metrorrhagia with Ovral three times daily for one week, followed by a single daily dose for one month. Hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy were performed. Histologically the mucosa of both fallopian tubes had large areas of decidual reaction underlying atrophic epithelium. This epithelial stromal dissociation is identical to that seen in the endometria of women taking contraceptive hormones orally, and the hormones are thought to be the cause of the changes in the tubes. These alterations have not been previously described in the salpinx.
