Morphological changes in the remnant mucosa 2-20 years after operation for duodenal ulcer (DU) were analyzed in 124 male subjects by means of stochastic mathematics. Fifty non-operated male DU patients and 168 age-matched males from a population sample served as controls. Substantially no progression of gastritis was found in the DU patients. In contrast, the operative intervention caused a rapid initial progression of gastritis, continuing after 2 years approximately at the same speed as in the population at large.
通过随机数学方法对124名男性十二指肠溃疡（DU）患者术后2至20年残余黏膜的形态学变化进行了分析。选取50名未经手术的男性DU患者以及168名来自人群样本且年龄匹配的男性作为对照。在DU患者中基本未发现胃炎进展。相比之下，手术干预导致胃炎在术后初期迅速进展，2年后大约以与普通人群相同的速度持续发展。
