Abstract

The circumstances in which it is unsafe or impossible to perform primary fascial closure are becoming more frequent. Five cases are reported using a combination of Vicryl and Marlex mesh, such that the Vicryl mesh prevents enterocutaneous fistulae and the Marlex mesh prevents late ventral hernias.
