A combination of Vicryl and Marlex mesh: a technique for abdominal wall closure in difficult cases.

The circumstances in which it is unsafe or impossible to perform primary fascial closure are becoming more frequent. Five cases are reported using a combination of Vicryl and Marlex mesh, such that the Vicryl mesh prevents enterocutaneous fistulae and the Marlex mesh prevents late ventral hernias.
