Divergences and convergences between strategic and psychodynamic therapy.

Although psychodynamic and strategic therapy have very different starting points, they have evolved in converging directions under the Zeitgeist which favors self-actualization and have met similar dilemmas concerning the therapist's attitude towards the issues of power and knowledge. The Winnicottian concept of "therapy as play" is suggested as a solution to the therapist's dilemma on the use of power in both dynamic and strategic models and as a conceptual bridge between them.
