This article reports the difficulties of the diagnosis of endocarditis, especially when blood cultures are negative. It emphasizes the respective roles of the microbiology and pathology laboratories for the processing of cardiac valves removed by surgery. It clarifies the morphological characteristics of the endocarditis.
